Nottingham Panthers, who were already confirmed as Group F winners in the Champions Hockey League, were beaten 5-2 by Turku in Finland in their final group game.
Goals from Ollie Betteridge and Robert Lachowicz had seen the game tied at 2-2, but three late third-period goals saw the hosts win the game.
Panthers go into Friday’s knockout stages draw as group winners.
