Great Britain’s two matches with Poland due to take place next month have been cancelled because of the worldwide situation with the coronavirus.

GB were due to face Poland in Coventry on Friday 17th April and in Cardiff on Saturday 18th April.

The Polish ice hockey federation informed Ice Hockey UK this week that the recommendations of the Polish Sport Ministry and Polish Olympic Committee is that athletes should reduce the travels and participation at sport events.

Andy French, IHUK general secretary, said: “Considering the situation across the world at the moment, this is a totally understandable decision and one that has our backing.

“I know supporters will be disappointed by this decision, but the health and safety of people is the most important thing.

“No decisions have been made about any of our other warm-up games. These are currently on but we remain in constant dialogue with the respective teams and federations.”
