Great Britain’s youngsters caught the eye once again in the Elite Series as Sheffield Steelers beat Coventry Blaze 6-4 at the National Ice Centre.

GB forward Mike Hammond provided the assist for Tristan Keck’s fifth goal of the tournament at 4:09 to put Blaze ahead, while Sam Duggan set-up Luke Ferrara to score on the powerplay (13:43).

Tanner Eberle closed the gap for Sheffield on an early second-period powerplay after a great feed from Liam Kirk (21:05).

Two goals in 35 seconds turned the game on its head as Josh Waller and Davey Phillips combined to set-up Jonathan Phillips (36:08) and Davey Phillips also assisted on Sam Jones’ first goal of the tournament (36:43).

Hammond netted at 42:18 before Sondre Olden – assisted by Brendan Connolly and Davey Phillips – restored Steelers’ lead less than four minutes later (46:04), while Waller and Jonathan Phillips combined for Jason Hewitt to score Sheffield’s fifth (52:49).

Hammond again assisted as Keck scored his second of the night (56:32), before Connolly made the game secure with an empty-net goal with one second left on the clock (59:59).
