Great Britain Women met for a one-day camp in Sheffield this afternoon as part of their preparations for this season’s EIHA Under-20s Cup and next year’s IIHF World Championship in Spain.

A number of senior GB Women’s players were joined by some of the under-18s, including six who were part of the squad that won the 4Nations tournament in Dumfries earlier this month.

The camp involved on-ice training in the morning and a classroom session, before GB took on a Sheffield Academy Select in Ice Sheffield with Jodie Bloom on target in an 8-1 defeat.

Smith said: “The result in a game like this is not important. Getting the girls some competitive action is the most important thing.

“We also had a good session in the morning where we worked on a lot of things. It has been a very productive day and everyone took a lot from it.

“To get the girls together is always valuable and it was great to bring a lot of the squad to Sheffield ahead of our first cup game next month.”

GB will continue their build-up for next year’s World Championship in Jaca by once again taking part in the EIHA Under-20s Cup, with their first game being against Coventry Blaze U20s on Sunday 8th December.
