Great Britain Women stepped up their preparations for October’s Olympic Qualifiers in Korea with a training camp in Nottingham yesterday.

An intense 90-minute on-ice training session in the morning was followed by off-ice sessions, including strength and conditioning.

The girls returned to the ice for a two-hour practice in the afternoon to complete the day.

Head Coach, Mike Clancy, said: “There was an amazing response from the squad as we got together on the ice in Nottingham this weekend.

“Seeing the positive vibe around the group – coupled with a great work ethic both on and off the ice – has given me lots to think about prior to our next session in three weeks time.

“It gave me an early opportunity to introduce the new coaching team and set the scene in what we need to do ahead of the Olympic Qualifiers in Korea this October.

“It’s a difficult prep schedule ahead and a huge commitment needed now to ensure we are in the best shape possible to compete against some strong opposition.”

GB will play in the Olympic Pre-Qualification Round 2 in Gangneung from Thursday 7th to Sunday 10th October this year, as they start their bid to reach the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

They’ll come up against hosts Korea, along with Slovenia and a qualifier from the previous round.
