Successful camp for GB Women at Ice Sheffield

Great Britain Women ended a successful camp at Ice Sheffield with a 4-2 victory over the Northern Conference Under-15s this afternoon.

Saffron Allen scored two goals on the breakaway, while Katie Henry and Leanne Ganney were also on target.

The camp began with an off-ice session in the morning following by a two-hour on-ice training session.

As GB continue their preparations for next month’s World Championship (Division 2A) in Korea, the camp was rounded off with a very useful game against the Northern Conference Under-15s.

Before the game, both sides and spectators joined in with a minute’s applause for Bob Wilkinson, who sadly passed away earlier this week.

Head coach, Cheryl Smith, said: “We have taken a lot of out this camp and the game to end the day was especially useful.

“I would like to thank all those involved in setting the game up. It is so useful to see the players in a game situation.

“We practiced some new drills in training and the girls took a lot on-board throughout the day.

“A day like today was vitally important ahead of the championships in Korea, which is just around the corner now.”

GB Women will reveal their squad for the World Championship at 10am tomorrow (Monday) morning.
