Great Britain Women and FreeSports will create history next week at the World Championship in Dumfries.

The IIHF Division II Group A tournament at the Dumfries Ice Bowl will be the first time that GB Women have been shown live on television in the UK.

The free-to-air channel will show all five of GB’s games as they look for promotion to Division I of the World Championship structure.

GB’s first game is on 2nd April against Australia Women and they then play Slovenia Women on 4th April.

Mexico Women are next up for GB on 5th April before they go head to head with Spain Women on 7th April.

Cheryl Smith’s side will round off their fixtures against DPR Korea Women on 8th April.

Coverage will come from Aaron Murphy, Paul Adey and Jono Bullard.

Murphy said: “We are looking forward to covering GB Women and it is fantastic they are getting the exposure they deserve.

“Covering GB Women has been in the pipeline for a while now and it is brilliant that everyone has worked together to make this possible.

“GB have a great chance of promotion and they are on home ice. It is set to be an exciting week of hockey.”

FreeSports is available free on Sky Channel 422, Virgin Media Channel 553, on Channel 64 on Freeview and BT and on Freesat Channel 252.
