Forward Jonathan Boxill says Great Britain’s players will make personal sacrifices in their bid to win a gold medal at the World Championship in Zagreb.

GB’s Division 1B campaign begins on Sunday with a game against hosts Croatia.

Britain will then come up against Estonia, Lithuania and Romania, before ending the six-team group by facing Ukraine, who were relegated from Division 1A last season.

GB came close to promotion and a gold medal last year in Netherlands, but lost their final game to Lithuania.

Belfast Giants forward Boxill said: “We have all come together as a squad in the last year.

“What Pete (Russell) has done in the past 12 months should be applauded.

“I would like to take on a more advanced role in the team this year and I think I can do that.

“We are a very, very deep team as I have said before.

“We are coming here as a group with one goal in mind and that is to win the gold medal.

“You have to make personal sacrifices and put your body on the line – and we are all willing to do that.”
