Great Britain have moved up two places to 20th in the IIHF world rankings following the conclusion of the World Championship in Slovakia.

GB’s fantastic showing at this year’s tournament in Kosice – where they avoided relegation with a dramatic 4-3 overtime victory over France – helped them move into the world’s top 20.

Great Britain finished 13th at this year’s World Championship, with Finland beating Canada 3-1 to win the gold medal this evening in Bratislava.

Silver-medallists Canada remain as the world’s number one seeds, with this year’s bronze medallists Russia second and Finland third in the world.

The IIHF also announced this evening that the men’s world ranking will also be used as base to determine the seeding for the 2020 World Championship in Switzerland.

Following organisational meetings tomorrow, the groups will be announced on Tuesday.
