The GB University Women’s team would like to announce the forthcoming trial dates and times to all female ice hockey players who would be interested in representing their country.

The GBW Uni. team has competed previously at the FISU World University Games (or Winter Universiade) and have ran alongside the GB Men’s University team. The tournament is of a high standard and competitive and will also provide memories that will last a lifetime.

Team Great Britain Universities Ice Hockey (GBU) is administered by the British Universities Ice Hockey Association and is endorsed by Ice Hockey UK.
British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) are the organisation which administers the GBR delegation. More information regarding BUCS and their involvement can be found on their website www.bucs.org.uk/almaty

With the support from BUCS and also IHUK we have been able to enter a team to compete in the Winter Universiade in Almaty, Kazakhstan from 25th January to February 8th 2017.

To maximise the pool of players that can trial we have secured the following dates:

14th May (Saturday) – Dumfries 1545-1745
4th June (Saturday) – Milton Keynes 1615-1815
17th June (Friday) – Sheffield 2230-0030
These dates are regional trials to allow as many players as possible to attend without having to travel long distances. There will be a small presentation prior to the on ice session outlining our programme and also details about the tournament.

We have then secured ice time in October, November, December for final squad selection and team training.

To participate you need to be over 17 and under 28 years old on Jan.1st 2017, attend a recognised educational institution on a university level course, or completed such a course within the 12 months preceding the tournament, and be a British passport holder. Please contact the team manager directly with any eligibility enquiries.

We would like to take a team which can compete as we have in the past. All applicants must email the team manager at ian.d.turner@btinternet.com prior to attending their preferred trial date with a brief player biography (e.g. Age, preferred position, experience and current level of play, email and mobile contact details). The player contribution is £1250 or £1365 if at a non BUCS member institution.

Attendance at trials will cost £10
