Great Britain Under-20s have won the silver medal at the U20 World Championship Division II Group A in Vilnius.

Japan U20s secured gold and immediate promotion with a 5-2 victory over Lithuania U20s, who will claim the bronze medal.

Earlier in the day, GB beat Serbia Under-20s 5-2 with goals from Sam Russell, Ed Bradley, Alex Graham, Finley Ulrik  and Cade Neilson.

It means GB finished with four wins from their five matches, with their only defeat coming at the hands of Japan on opening day.

Head coach, Martin Grubb, said: “We wanted to play for the nation – for the people here and the people back home.

“We wanted to progress, four wins out of five is a progression, but we still want to be better

“It is still tinged with sadness that we underachieved as we weren’t going for a gold medal.

“Credit to the players as they have showed huge character throughout the tournament.”
