Great Britain Under-20s have arrived in Dumfries and had their first training session ahead of the U20 World Championship which starts at the weekend.

The GB players began gathering yesterday afternoon and the squad will now prepare for tomorrow’s warm-up game against Korea at Dumfries Ice Bowl.

Britain underwent a morning training session today and will also return to the ice this evening.

GB and Korea will be joined by Estonia, Japan, Netherlands and Romania for the Division II Group A World Championship tournament, which starts at the Dumfries Ice Bowl on Sunday.

Team manager, Ian Turner, said: “The players all arrived throughout yesterday afternoon and JC (John Crawley), the equipment manager, had prepared an immaculate GB changing room.

“We’ve already been on the ice once today and we are having a team meeting.

“Stuart Edwards is doing some motivation and team bonding talks before we go on ice again this evening.

“The boys will also take to the ice tomorrow morning for a training session ahead of the game with Korea in the evening.”

Entrance to the warm-up game between GB and Korea tomorrow is free and face-off at the Dumfries Ice Bowl is 8pm.

The World Championship gets under way with three games on Sunday, starting with Japan against Netherlands (1pm), followed Korea versus Estonia (4:30pm) and GB take on Romania at 8pm.
