Great Britain Under-18s have arrived in Slovakia for their training camp ahead of the World Championship Division I Group B in Hungary, which gets under way at the weekend.

The team have had two practices today and will now play two games in the next couple of days to continue their preparations.

GB face Japan U18s tomorrow in Petzalka and an OHA side in St Polten on Thursday. They will then transfer to their Szekesfehervar base on Friday ahead of Sunday’s opening game.

The six-team IIHF tournament runs from 14th to 20th April and matches will be played in the Ifjabb Ocskay Gábor Ice Hall.

Martin Grubb’s side get their tournament under way against Slovenia on 14th April and then face Japan the following day.

GB meet hosts Hungary on 17th April, sandwiched in between two rest days.

Britain finish the tournament with games against Austria on 19th April and Italy on 20th April.

Grubb said: “We have had a good opening couple of days and everyone is in great spirits.

“After arriving on Monday, we had two practices today and will skate in the morning ahead of the game against Japan.

“It is going to be a tough tournament that’s for sure but we are getting prepared in the best way possible.”
