Great Britain Under-18 Women will face Guildford Lightning on Sunday afternoon at the National Ice Centre (16:45) as part of their preparations for the World Championship Division II in Turkey.

The nine-team tournament – which will be split into three groups of three – takes place from 27th June to 5th July and will be played on two ice sheets at the Zeytinburnu Ice Rink in Istanbul.

The competing teams are GB, Australia, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain and hosts Turkey.

The match against Guildford faces-off at 16:45 on Sunday in the Olympic Rink in Nottingham and admission is free.

Head Coach, Angela Taylor, said: “It’s free entry so we’d love to get some support for the girls to help prepare them for the atmosphere we’ll be expecting in Turkey.

“You’ll get to see the upcoming talent of GB Under-18 Women against the the recent WNIHL Trophy winners, Guilford Lightning.

“The Lightning team will have some special guests icing, including some of the women’s team who won gold in Jaca and up-and-coming under-18 prospects who just missed out on the team for Istanbul.”

Assistant Coach, Nicola Lazarczuk, said: “We are looking forward to seeing the team in a competitive environment where we can look at chemistry and special teams.

“Huge thanks to Guildford – and guests – for providing us with a challenging opposition where lines will be tested.

“This game is hugely important for our preparation for the championships.”
