Great Britain beat hosts Turkey 6-0 in their second game at the IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship Division II in Istanbul.

It means GB finish top of Group A with two victories from two matches following their 6-0 victory over Mexico on Monday.

Angela Taylor’s side will now face Group C winners Spain on Friday and Group B winners Netherlands on Sunday to determine which medal they will play for on Tuesday’s final day of the tournament.

Netminders Emma Nichols and Mali Easton combined for a team six-shot shutout.

GB went ahead at 6:14 thanks to a superb solo goal from Abi McCourt as she skated into the offensive zone, cut inside and went top shelf on her backhand.

It was 2-0 with 40 seconds remaining in the first period when Ellie Patrick dug the puck out of the right boards and her shot was deflected past Ekin Koksal (19:40).

Easton took over from Nichols between the pipes for the start of the second session for her first action of the tournament.

GB’s third was created by captain Chamonix Jackson who skated from left to right around the back of the net and fed Patrick for her second of the night (33:48).

Jess Jones forced a turnover and fired in GB’s fourth by shooting across Koksal from close range (37:23) and 79 seconds later, Jackson won the puck left-hand side and slid in her third goal of the tournament with a low backhand finish (38:42).

Chloe Needham-Potts scored the only goal of the third period when she swept in a rebound after Jackson was denied (49:34).
