Great Britain Under-18 Women secured their second successive victory at the 4Nations tournament as they beat Iceland Women 4-3 at the Dumfries Ice Bowl.

Emily Harris scored twice to take her tally to four goals in two matches, while Grace Garbett and Alice Jones were also on target.

Kiana Tait sent Harris free for the game’s first goal as she finished high on her backhand on the powerplay (6:55).

Garbett started and finished off the move for GB’s second and was set up from behind the net by Harris for a one-timer (29:51).

Iceland reduced the deficit at 35:44 when a broken play saw Bergsdottir score with a neat wrist shot, before Harris netted her second on the powerplay from the short side with 2.7 seconds left in the second period.

Kaitlyn Morrison assisted on a smart finish at the top of the crease by Jones at 41:56, but Iceland roared back to ensure a tense finish.

Hafsteinsdottir netted from the high slot on the powerplay (43:31), while Bjorgvinsdottir fired home a one-timer from the hash marks (58:51) with the netminder lifted.

GB go top of the four-team group with six points from two matches to set up a winner-takes-all encounter against Poland U18 Women tomorrow.

Head coach, Cheryl Smith, said: “The coaching staff are very happy with the win but we still have areas to work on.

“It was pleasing to score four goals but we let Iceland back into the game. We knew they would be tough and they didn’t let us settle.

“But we stuck at it and scored some good goals and it was fantastic to see the girls put in such a committed performance once again.”

The tournament enters its final day tomorrow with Spain U18 Women and Iceland Women going head to head at 8am, while GB U18 Women and Poland U18 Women meet at 11:30m.
