Great Britain Under-16 Women have won the British Women’s Ice Hockey Friendship Tournament at Planet Ice Bristol.

The final with Bristol ended 1-1 before Meeyah Forbes and Lydia Lutwyche scored in the shootout to secure the title for GB.

Unbeaten group stage for GB
After four wins and two ties on day one, the second day began with a 2-0 victory over BWIHT thanks to goals from Faith Laverty and Abi Minter, while Scarlett Richardson secured the shutout.

Evelyn Brown had her first shutout of the day in a 0-0 tie with Milton Keynes.

GB’s 1-0 victory over Sheffield in their third game confirmed their semi-final qualification. Jemma Dilley scored for GB and there was a second shutout of the day for Scarlett Richardson.

The final group-stage game saw a 1-1 tie with Streatham Storm with Keely Walsh scoring GB’s goal.

It secured second place for unbeaten GB with 16 points from 10 matches – six wins and four ties – and a semi-final meeting with Nottingham.

GB edge tense semi-final on penalties 
The game with Nottingham ended 0-0 with another shutout for Scarlett Richardson who then made six saves in the shootout, while Lydia Lutwyche and Meeyah Forbes converted penalties for GB.

GB secure trophy with another shootout success. 
The final saw GB meet Bristol after the two sides had shared a 1-1 draw in the group stages.

In a tight encounter, Ila Hobbins opened the scoring for Bristol in the second period before Tahlia Davidson-Wright netted GB’s equaliser.

The game went to a shootout with Meeyah Forbes and Lydia Lutwyche again on target for GB, while netminder Evelyn Brown saved both Bristol’s attempts.
