Great Britain Under-16 Women have named their team for the British Women’s Ice Hockey Friendship Tournament.

The 14-team tournament is taking place at Planet Ice Bristol on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd July.

It’s the first time a GB side has entered the competition and the other competing teams are Bristol Huskies, Caledonia Steel Queens, Cardiff Comets, Coventry Phoenix, Chelmsford Cobras, Kingston Diamonds, MK Falcons, Nottingham Vipers, Oxford Midnight Stars, Sheffield Shadows, Slough Sirens, Solway Sharks and Swindon Topcats.

Head Coach, Nicci Wardell, said: “Our selection process started last summer and from day one we could see the depth throughout the group had improved post-covid.

“The competition for places has been very high. It was buoyed by several of the top-age players also being selected for the under-18 women’s team trials and subsequently their final team for the upcoming World Championship.

“This has led to some of our younger players really stepping up to the plate and gave us some tough decisions when it came to selecting this team.

“The coaches really have been impressed by how well the whole group have gelled on and off the ice and we are really looking forward to seeing them compete in this tournament.

“We really would like thank the tournament organisers for accommodating us this year.”
