Great Britain will take on Lithuania next year as part of their preparations for the World Championship Division 1 Group A in Budapest.

GB and Lithuania will meet in the MK Arena in Milton Keynes on Saturday 14th April 2018 (7pm) and the following day on Sunday 15th April (5:15pm) in Coventry’s Skydome Arena.

The matches will form part of both sides preparations for their respective World Championship tournament later that month.

GB will take on hosts Hungary, along with Italy, Kazakhstan, Poland and Slovenia, for their first return to ice hockey’s second tier since 2013 at the same Papp Laszlo Budapest Sportarena.

Lithuania are hosting the Division 1 Group B tournament in Kaunas.

Great Britain and Lithuania are no strangers and have met each other regularly in the last few years, with GB winning the most recent meeting 5-2 on their way to promotion from Division 1 Group B last season in Belfast.

GB head coach, Pete Russell, said: “We have had many great games over the years with Lithuania and we look forward to facing them twice next April.

“Our training camp and pre-touranament matches are always important and it’s no different this time around.

“The promotion in Belfast last April was fantastic but we have to move on from that now and prepare for the next level.

“Next year’s World Championship will be a massive test for Great Britain, but one I know everyone is looking forward to undertaking.”

Ticket details for both games will be announced soon.
