Great Britain need a point against Ukraine tomorrow to secure the gold medal and promotion to Division 1A of the World Championship.
GB beat Romania 6-1 this afternoon to make it four wins from four in this season’s Division 1B tournament in Zagreb.
Lithuania defeated Ukraine 2-1 in today’s second match, which means GB sit top of the six-team group with 11 points from four matches.
Britain began the tournament with a 4-1 win over hosts Croatia, before a 4-3 overtime victory against Estonia.
A memorable 8-0 success against Lithuania followed and GB’s success today against Romania means they remain unbeaten.
Any type of victory tomorrow would mean GB would win the group outright.
A point would be good enough even if Lithuania beat Croatia in regulation time to move level with Great Britain on 12 points.
GB would advance thanks to their 8-0 victory on Wednesday over Lithuania as the table would come down to the head-to-head criteria.
