Great Britain have named their squad for the IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship Division II in Istanbul.

Following the withdrawal of New Zealand, the nine-team competition will now run from 27th June to 5th July and will be played on two ice sheets at the Zeytinburnu Ice Rink.

The nine competing teams are GB, Australia, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain and hosts Turkey

The new tournament structure will be confirmed shortly.

The original tournament – due to take place in January – was postponed last December because of the increasing covid cases at the time.

Head Coach, Angela Taylor, said: “The coaching staff and I are excited to get the roster announced after a seven-month wait.

“We’ve made a couple of strategic changes to adjust to the different group set-up.

“We’ll have two weekend camps in June where we’ll get to see all the girls together, walk through some systems and have a challenge match against an elite women’s team before we fly out.

“We have a strong group and hope to build on some of the good performances we had in Iceland in November.”
