Great Britain Under-18s beat Japan Under-18s 4-2 in Petzalka this afternoon in a warm-up game as part of their preparations for the World Championship Division I Group B in Hungary.

Lewis Houston scored in the first period, while Joe Hazeldine was on target midway through the second session.

Ed Bradley netted GB’s third goal in period three and Reece Cochrane scored into an empty net with 18 seconds remaining.

Netminders Will Kerlin and Lucas Brine shared half the game each between the pipes.

Grubb said: “I thought it was a very useful game for us to be able to see the speed of one of the 1B teams and see how we matched up.

“I was very pleased with how we played and matched Japan’s intensity and stayed focused on our own plan and it was nice to get the win.

“We know the areas we want to improve on and the players have bought into everything and deserve lots of credit for today.”

GB now face an OHA side in St Polten tomorrow and will then move to Szekesfehervar ahead of Sunday’s first World Championship game.

Britain face Slovenia, Japan, Hungary, Austria and Italy from 14th to 20th April.
