Great Britain begin their World Championship campaign this afternoon as they face Germany in Kosice (3:15pm UK time).

It’s the first of seven games for Pete Russell’s side as they also go head to head with Canada, Denmark, USA, Finland, Slovakia and France in Group A in the Steel Arena.

GB expect to be at full strength and coach Pete Russell will name his 22-man roster ahead of face-off.

Robert Lachowicz, who made his debut in 2011, is set to win his 50th Great Britain cap.

Meanwhile, Colin Shields is set to become only the fifth player to hit 90 caps.

Group A got under way yesterday with Finland beating Canada 3-1, while there was a shock in the day’s second game as  Slovakia defeated USA 4-1 in the Steel Arena.

In Group B in Bratislava, Russia were 5-2 winners over Norway and Czech Republic beat Sweden by the same scoreline.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS
It’s the first meeting between the two sides since Germany’s 8-0 win in the World Championship Division I Group A in Amiens, France.

There have been 14 meetings since the first one in 1930 in the World Championship in Chamonix. Germany have won 10, GB three and there has been on tie.
