France U18 Women have won gold at the Under-18 Women’s World Championship Division I Group B in Dumfries.
Their penalty-shot defeat to Norway U18 Women on Saturday afternoon – after the game ended 1-1 – was enough to secure promotion to the Division I Group A.
France had won their first four games, beating China (7-0), Great Britain (3-0), Poland (4-0) and Netherlands (3-0).
Norway beat Netherlands (4-0), China (3-0) and Poland (5-2), but their penalty-shot defeat by GB proved crucial and they had to settle for the silver medal.
