Forward Luke Ferrara says he is excited at the opportunity of playing for Great Britain at the Skydome again.

GB began their training camp this evening ahead of next month’s World Championship in Slovakia.

The 25-year-old scored in February’s 3-1 victory over KHL side Riga in-front of a sold-out and passionate crowd in Coventry (pictured above).

Pete Russell’s side face Italy in the Skydome on Friday before moving on to Milton Keynes on Sunday to take-on Hungary.

The squad will then be cut to 25 ahead of back-to-back games against Torpedo in Nottingham and Sheffield – and these players will represent GB at their first top-flight World Championship since 1994.

“Playing for your country is always an honour,” said the Coventry Blaze forward. “It is extra special when you play on home ice.

“The game against Riga in February was unreal. The noise was so loud we could hardly hear each other speak on the bench.

“I think everyone at training camp is excited by what’s in store. We have matches against two great sides this weekend and, of course, everyone is aiming to be in the final 25-man squad.

“It would be a dream come true to represent GB at the top level against the best players in the world.

“Competition for places will be intense over the coming days and I will really hope I can be part of it.”
