Day two of training camp was another busy day for Great Britain’s players with two on-ice sessions, as well as commitments off the ice as part of a media day.
Defenceman Joe Hazeldine and forward Ross Venus were added to the squad, with Head Coach Pete Russell saying “we felt it would be wise to add a couple of players to the training camp squad to give us to give us some additional flexibility”.
GB will now play four games in six days starting with tomorrow’s match with Italy in Milton Keynes.
Off the ice, players undertook interviews for BBC Midlands Today and BBC CWR, while filming and photos took place in preparation for use on the big screen in Nottingham on Sunday.
Forward Cade Neilson arrived at camp after nearly a day of travelling from Aberdeen in North America, going via Minneapolis and Paris before arriving at Birmingham Airport.
Within a few hours, he was straight on the ice for the team’s second practice of the day, but not before speaking to Ice Hockey TV.
GB will have a pre-game skate tomorrow before travelling to Milton Keynes to take-on Italy.
A double-headed weekend against Denmark follows, with the two sides playing in Coventry on Saturday 7th May and also in Nottingham on Sunday 8th May.
The final UK international game takes place against Italy in Coventry on Tuesday 10th May.
GB will then depart on Wednesday to Finland to their base in Tampere ahead of the World Championship.
