Great Britain forward Russell Cowley has credited his line-mates for his free-scoring performances in the World Championship (Division 1B) in Zagreb.

The 32-year-old has three goals and three assists so far, with all six points coming in GB’s first three matches.

Cowley started on a line with Ashley Tait and Craig Peacock, but Ross Venus has also slotted in during the last two matches.

“I have to give credit to Ash and Ross,” said the Coventry Blaze forward, who is currently the tournament’s second-leading points-scorer behind Ben O’Connor.

“I have played with them recently but have also played with Craig Peacock.

“Credit to them as they are making life easier.

“The chemistry we have had over the four games has worked out well.

“Sometimes they go in and sometimes they don’t – and I have been fortunate enough that they have been going in.”

GB beat Romania 6-1 this afternoon to set up a chance of promotion to Division 1A tomorrow.

Britain face Ukraine at 1pm in the Dom Sportova Arena (12noon UK time) and know a win would secure a gold medal.
