The countdown to the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Tampere and Helsinki began today.

It’s the ninth time the World Championship will be held in Finland and the tournament will run 13th to 29th May 2022.

The organisers said in a press release today that the “organising committee is currently a little ahead in the World Championship arrangements and agreements have been concluded for cities, arenas and several operational partners”.

“We have set the bar high in everything we do and the conditions for the games will be top notch. We want to make an event that Finns can be proud of,” said Heikki Hietanen, the General Secretary of the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.

Ticket sales will start today with VIP packages and day tickets for games on sale in the autumn

Regular day tickets will go on sale in the autumn of 2021, when the official game schedule will be completed. Tickets come with a wide price range, with several game and seating categories in use.

”By pricing the tickets, we want to ensure that the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship games are accessible to as many hockey fans as possible,” said Hietanen.
