General manager Andy Buxton has hailed the “fantastic backing” of the Great Britain supporters at this year’s World Championship (Division 1B) in Zagreb.

GB were backed by nearly 300 fans in the Dom Sportova Arena, with many travelling over as part of the GB Supporters Club (GBSC).

Pete Russell’s side just missed out on the gold medal as they were beaten 2-1 by Ukraine in their final game.

“The fans were incredible once again,” said Buxton.

“As a team, we can’t thank them enough for their backing.

“They were amazing every night and never stopped chanting.”

After GB’s final game, the players went outside for their traditional meet up with the supporters.

A number of presentations were made by the Supporters Club, including Jonathan Phillips as their player of the tournament.

Andy Buxton was presented with an award by GBSC for reaching 50 games with GB at last year’s tournament in Eindhoven.

“I would like to say thank you to GBSC for the presentation made to me,” added Buxton.

“It meant so much to me.”
