Great Britain Women have won a bronze medal at the World Championship (Division 2A) in Bled.

After their 7-0 victory over DPR Korea, GB had a chance of a gold medal and promotion.

But Korea’s victory over hosts Sloevnia in the tournament’s final game means Poland instead take the gold medal.

Korea claim siver and it is bronze for GB.

Head coach, Cheryl Smith, said: “We are all very proud of the squad this week.

“They put everything on the line and we could not ask much more of them.

“They are a great group of girls and can be proud of their bronze medals.

“Of couse, we wanted gold and it is crazy how close we came.

“We won four out of five matches and lost the other by only a goal.

“We scored 34 goals and only conceded three, but sadly it was not to be.

“But we are building something here and the future is very bright.”
