Great Britain Women’s defenceman Jodie Bloom says “playing against speed” in the EIHA U20s Cup is really helping the side get ready for the upcoming World Championship

GB continued their preparations for April’s Division II Group A tournament in Dumfries with their latest game in the cup competition at the weekend.

Britain faced the men’s under-20 national champions Coventry Blaze at Ice Sheffield on Sunday.

Bloom said: “These games really are of great benefit to us and are such a boost for our World Championship preparations.

“We are used to playing this speed at the minute against the bigger and stronger players and I think it’ll help us big time.

“If we go into worlds at the speed we have been playing at, we’ll be flying.

“It is great to get the squad together on a regular basis and play games. This is the best preparation we have had for a World Championship tournament.”

Great Britain Women will play host to Australia, DPR Korea, Mexico, Slovenia and Spain from 2nd to 8th April 2019 at Dumfries Ice Bowl in the IIHF World Championship Division II Group A.
