Division I: Australia vs. Great Britain 1-7 (0-3, 0-3, 0-0, 1-1)

Great Britain Inline beat Australia 7-1 in their third game at the World Championship Division 1 in Slovakia.

It was GB’s second successive win after their 4-2 victory over Brazil on Monday.

This was Britain’s strongest performance so far and secured second place in the group.

Goaltender Miles Finney had a strong game making 28 saves as outshot Australia 32-29.

Ben Lowe opened the scoring already after 42 seconds and Dan Hutchinson and Nathan Finney made it a 3-0 first-period lead.

The British added three more markers in the second frame, two from Karl Niamatali and one from Alex Kingston.

Lowe scored his second goal of the game in the fourth period and with 5:16 left in regulation time, Jayden Ryan scored the consolation goal for Australia, spoiling Finney’s shutout attempt.

Great Britain will now face Argentina, who finished third in Group C, on Thursday as the knockout stages begin.
