Three years ago today, Great Britain created one of the most golden moments in their history as they were promoted to the top level of the World Championship.
Following their gold medal and promotion from the third tier on home ice in Belfast in 2017, GB went to Budapest as the tournament’s lowest seeds.
After wins over Slovenia (3-1), Poland (5-3) and Italy (4-3) but defeat by Kazakhstan, GB went into their final game against hosts Hungary needing a point to seal their return to the top flight for the first time in 25 years.
Pete Russell’s side were 2-0 down with less than 10 minutes to go, but Robert Dowd closed the gap to make it a one-goal game.
Ben Bowns saved a penalty shot with three minutes left in regulation time, before Robert Farmer scored one of the most famous goals in GB history with only 15 seconds left on the clock.
The final 15 seconds were frantic – and Bowns had to make two great saves – but the point was enough to send GB back into the world’s elite.
