Great Britain Head Coach Pete Russell was presented with his 50th cap ahead of this afternoon’s game with Finland in the World Championship in Tampere.

Russell was Assistant Coach in 2014 in Lithuania before taking over as Head Coach ahead of the 2015 World Championship Division 1 Group B in the Netherlands.

He’s since led GB to the top level of world ice hockey including back-to-back promotions in Belfast in 2017 and Hungary in 2018.

Equipment Manager Steve Small also reaches his 50th cap today for the match with the Finns in the 13,500 sell-0ut Nokia Arena in Tampere.

Smallsey’s first trip was the 2014 tournament in Vilnius and he’s been a popular member of the off-ice staff ever since.

GB face Finland – the world’s number one ranked team and Olympic champions – at 16:20 (14:20 UK) in the Nokia Arena in Tampere.
