MBE FOR FORMER GREAT BRITAIN JUNIOR COACH

Former Great Britain juniors coach Erskine Douglas has been awarded an MBE for his services to finance.

The Queen’s Birthday Honours List had been delayed from June because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Douglas played for Streatham, Lee Valley and Romford in the 1970s and 1980s, before starting his coaching career.

He was assistant coach of GB Under-18s in the 1999-2000 season and was head coach of GB Under-20s in 2000-2001 and more recently was part of an EIHA development programme.

Douglas also had coaching roles with England, as well as domestically with Romford, Oxford, Chelmsford and Haringey.

His son, netminder Chris Douglas – who played last season for Bristol Pitbulls – said on Twitter: “He is incredibly happy and honoured to receive this recognition.”

Everyone connected with Great Britain and Ice Hockey UK would like to send congratulations to Erskine.
