DAVE PHILLIPS WINS 75TH CAP

Defenceman Dave Phillips wins his 75th cap this afternoon as Great Britain face Denmark in their third game at the World Championship in Kosice.

The Sheffield Steelers blueliner received his cap ahead of the game in the dressing from Ice Hockey UK general secretary Andy French and GB general manager Andy Buxton made a short speech.

Phillips made his debut at the age of 19 in the 2006 World Championship Division I Group A in France.

He scored three points in his debut tournament in Amiens as GB finished in fifth place under coach Rick Strachan.

Phillips said: “It is a very special moment to reach the milestone of 75 caps for your country.

“This is a very special team to be part of and to reach this total, with these guys, at a top-level World Championship is a massive honour.”

In addition, Matthew Myers and Jonathan Phillips win their 90th caps while Mark Richardson will win his 80th cap.
