Great Britain play their final game ahead of the World Championship as they face Slovakia in Poprad this afternoon (3pm UK time).

The high-profile encounter is part of GB’s preparations for their first top-flight tournament since 1994.

GB trained twice yesterday at their base in Michalovce and will now play their sixth warm-up game since February.

Pete Russell’s side had a two-week camp in Coventry, which included games against Italy and Hungary, as well as back-to-matches against KHL Torpedo.

The last meeting between the two sides was 1995 and in fact, they have only met twice in history, with Slovakia winning on both occasions.

Russell said: “This will be an excellent test for us and it help set the standard for next week.

“We are going to face a number of high-calibre teams at the Worlds, so it will be a good benchmark.

“We have settled well into our base here in Slovakia and there is a great atmosphere. We are looking forward to getting started.”

Both sides will be located in Group A in Kosice for World Championship, with Germany, Canada, Denmark, USA, Finland and France completing the eight-team group.

The game is available on a live broadcast from Slovakian TV, which can be watched here.
