Great Britain Under-16 Women have named their squad to take part in the Global Girls’ Game this month and in matches for the rest of the season.

The squad is made up of three netminders, 10 in defence and 12 forwards and the GB youngsters will take part in a training camp at Ice Sheffield on Saturday 10th March.

Part of the camp will involve participation in the Global Girls’ Game, which will involve the under-16 squad and some players from the GB U18 Women’s squad.

It’s a special IIHF worldwide event where games of ice hockey take place across the world on one weekend.

Coach, Jayne McClelland, said: “The coaching staff think this is an exciting young squad and we are looking forward to seeing them in action.

“It is always special to pull on a GB shirt and the next few weeks and months will be very special for these girls.

“The Global Girls’ Game is something fun to be involved in but we will still get to see the girls in a match situation.

“They will also play more competitive matches before the end of the season and that will help them develop as players.

“We have some exciting plans for the GB U16 Women’s squad in the coming months and we are really looking forward to working with this squad.

“It’s great to finally have a squad of this age group to work with for the future senior team.”
