On Saturday night in amongst the celebrations for Great Britain’s 4-0 win over Japan, gold medals and promotion to Division 1A, there were individual awards for three of the players who contributed to the success.

In the post-tournament ceremony GB’s Ben O’Connor was named ‘Defenceman of the Tournament’ by the IIHF Directorate.

Goalscoring record-breaker Colin Shields was named as ‘Forward of the Tournament’.

Japan’s goalie Yutaka Fukufuji was named tournament’s best netminder.

About an hour after the final hooter, the GB players and staff attended the GB Supporters Club meeting outside McCool’s.  GBSC members in Belfast had been voting on their player of the tournament, with the winner being Evan Mosey.
