U20S NATIONAL FINAL PREVIEW: FIFE v COVENTRY

Fife Falcons will meet Coventry Blaze in this afternoon’s final of the Ice Hockey UK Under-20s National Finals.

After Fife beat Kingston 8-2 in the first semi-final, Coventry defeated Aberdeen 5-3 to set up Sunday’s showdown in the Dumfries Ice Bowl.

It’s a second successive final for Fife who were beaten 4-3 by Sheffield after overtime in last year’s final.

Falcons head coach, Scott Plews, said: “The experience of being in last year’s final will help us big time.

“A lotĀ of this team were here last year and we want to use this to our advantage.

“We have the systems in place and the guys know what they are doing.

“We will be set-up and ready to go – and ready to deal with anything thrown our way.”

Coventry coach, Sean Alderson, said: “Hopefully we can pick a third trophy of the season up and we will be giving it our best shot.

“Fife’s puck movement was good in the first semi-final and they made it look easy. We have to be wary of that.

“Hopefully it will be a quick game with a lot of puck movement and a lot of shots.

“The first goal really is going to be huge.”

The final faces-off at 3pm and tickets are available on the door at the Dumfries Ice Bowl.

The game will be preceded by Scotland Under-11s against an England U11 Select at 12noon.

Both games will be filmed live via a webcast. Click here to purchase.
