WE CAN STILL IMPROVE, SAYS MYERS

Forward Matthew Myers says there is still room for improvement, despite Great Britain making it four wins out of four at the World Championship (Division 1B) in Zagreb.

Myers scored GB’s fifth goal and his 15th at international level in this afternoon’s 6-1 victory over Romania.

It means Britain have three regulation-time wins, along with one in overtime, and sets up a chance of a gold medal against Ukraine tomorrow.

“It was really important that we came out and did a job against Romania,” said Myers.

“We didn’t play our best and we can still do better I am sure of that.

“Tomorrow will be fun. We will have to bring our A-game as they are a good team.

“Hopefully we can end the day with a gold medal around our necks.”

Myers revealed why he claimed the puck from the referee when he netted midway through the third period.

“My dad wants it for some reason,” he smiled.

“But I managed to claim it and now I will let him have it.”

GB against Ukraine gets under way tomorrow at 1pm in the Dom Sportova Arena (12noon UK time).
