LACHOWICZ: ONE OF GB’S BEST-EVER

Forward Robert Lachowicz says Great Britain’s 8-0 victory over Lithuania at the Dom Sportova Arena on Wednesday was one of their best-ever performances.

There were eight different goalscorers as GB won their third game at the World Championship (Division 1B) in Zagreb.

It moves GB second in the table on eight points and a point behind leaders Ukraine, who have three regulation-time wins from three matches.

Lachowicz scored GB’s fourth of the afternoon, which was his third international goal.

“This must be right up there with one of the best-ever performances,” said Lachowicz.

“It is great. We have a good team and a great group of lads. Hopefully we can go on and get the gold medal.

“We have no games tomorrow, so we will try not to think about it too much.

“Then hopefully we will get back into it against Romania and our aim is to set up a big game against Ukraine on the final day.”

The 26-year-old had previously scored two goals in Olympic qualifying tournaments, so this was his first goal at a World Championship.

“It wasn’t something that worried me,” continued Lachowicz.

“You go out every shift and do what you have to do. Luckily today I got the goal and it was nice in the 8-0 win.”

There are no games in the tournament tomorrow and GB return to action on Friday when they face Romania at 1pm (12noon UK time).
