WYOG Day Four
Day Four
We woke up to more snow on the ground and the snow still falling on Friday morning. It looked so pretty, but then it dawned on me that I would have to train in this as we were outside again for training!
Thankfully the skies cleared and the snow stopped just in time for training. We were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the Austria v Finland boy’s game before heading out to practice. It looked a really exciting game.
Lewis (Hook) and I were on the ice with the guys from the IIHF today. It was great to see some familiar faces as I had met most of them out in Finland at the qualifiers.
After training, we rushed back to the village to pick up opening ceremony tickets for our parents before heading back to the rink to give the tickets to them. On route back to the village to meet up with the rest of the Team GB squad we stopped for a cheeky portion of chips (Shhh!) and then it was time for the opening ceremony.
Everyone was buzzing for the opening ceremony and even though it was freezing cold it could not have been any more amazing! There was live music, dancing, ski tricks, motorbikes, national anthems, the lighting of the Olympic flame, flag parade and fireworks!! It was truly spectacular!
