First Period
Starting in goal for GB Ben Bowns in their first game in the WC v China, China take the first penalty of the game after 46 seconds with a Tripping call on number 12 JIANG Hongchao, GB not able to capitalise on the Power play however at 3.13 Iain Bowie puts GB 1-0 up even handed assisted Thomas Squires & Tom Duggan. GB on the power play again at 4.47 as QU Xiaoyu takes a 2 minute penalty for Cross Checking but unable to find the net on the with the 5 on 4 advantage. China no sooner get back to full strength and have another 2 minute penalty at 8.56 with a Holding call against DU Bingyang to give GB their third PP in the first 8 minutes of the game, Despite having the advantage of being a man up on the PP GB are not able to find the net to extend their lead. 16.01 Robert Farmer assisted Stephen Lee puts GB 2-0 up. China are given another penalty for Too Many Men on the ice at 17.31. GB on the PP again but not for long as a penalty against Iain Bowie at 18.25 for Tripping evens things up, China finish the first period on the PP. Second Period
GB start the Second Period penalty killing for 25 seconds. 22.02 China's QU Xiaoyu receives a 2 minute penalty for Hooking to give GB another PP opportunity. Again GB are unable to find the net on the PP. 24.07 GB score their third goal of the game to put them 3-0 up, scored Matt Davies, assisted Ciaran Long. 27.59 GB get their second penalty of the game 2 minutes for Interference. GB kill of the China PP to maintain their 3-0 advantage. GB get their third penalty 2 minute penalty of the game at 30.10 Ciaran Long going back into the penalty box for Boarding, they decide to change their net minders at 30.10 Thomas Murdy replacing Ben Bowns in the GB net to share the game. GB kill off the penalty and then take advantage of a further Power play at 33.42 when YANG Mingxi receives a 2 minute penalty for Tripping. Again GB are not able to take advantage of the power play. 36.20 Jamie Hayes scores his goal of the game assisted Stephen Lee and Tom Norton to give GB their 4th goal of the game. 37.49 China's HU Tianyu gets a 2 minute penalty for Hooking to give GB the man advantage. 38.02 Tom Duggan and DOU Hao get 2 minutes each for roughing. 39.20 Robert Farmer gets his 2nd goal of the game assisted Iain Bowie & Craig Mitchell, first Powerplay goal for GB to give them a 5 -0 score line at the end of the Second Period. Third Period
China start the third period with a change of net minders. 41.39 Farmer receives a penalty for Tripping and Craig Mitchell joins him in the box at 42.54 for Interference, GB manage to kill of the penalties and get back to full strength. 45.39 Farmer finds the net again for the 6th GB goal assisted by Jamie Hayes. 49.30 China get their second 2 minute penalty for Too Many Men on the ice to give GB another Power play which is short lived as Iain Bowie pays another visit to the penalty box at 50.44 for Cross Checking. 53.40 Robert Farmer strikes again for his hatrick assisted by Ben Davies to for his 5th goal of the game. 55.41 China receive another 2 minute penalty SUN Peng for Slashing to give Team GB another Powerplay. GB failed to score on the PP. 58.46 Natham Salem gets on the score sheet for GB's 8th goal of the game assisted by Sam Oakford and Craig Mitchell. Shots on goal in the third period 20 on China and 3 on Team GB.
Team GB finish their first game coming out 8-0 victors over China with Robert Farmer leading the way with 5 goals.
