Ice Hockey UK press release

Great Britain Under-18 Women finished the World Championship (Division 1) in Norway with a 5-3 defeat by already-promoted Hungary.

It was another fantastic performance from GB against a Hungary side who had won their previous four games in the tournament.

The GB youngsters went ahead through Shannon Jones (Kingston Diamonds) at 8:43 for a one-goal first-period lead.

Hungary hit back with two goals in 43 seconds at the start of the second session from Jekatyerina Maszlova (20:30) and Dorottya Medgyes (21:13).

Paige Henry (Solihull Vixens) levelled the game at 31:17, before Maszlova scored her second (38:43) to give Hungary a 3-2 lead at the end of two periods.

Katherine Gale (Bracknell Queen Bees) pulled GB level again at 44:09 but Hungary's strength showed with further goals from Tifani Horvath's penalty shot (46:05) and Luca Bikas (52:22).
